Cathedral Confession Schedule

Sundays 10:00 am – 10:30 am
Wednesdays 11:30 am – 12:00 pm
Saturdays 2:30 pm – 3:45 pm

The priest will need time to prepare to celebrate Mass after each of these scheduled times, which will make any last-minute arrivals difficult to accommodate. Please plan to arrive early and be considerate of the posted times. Thank you.


Welcome Fr. Michael Casey to the Cathedral Parish

Fr. Shanley is happy to announce that Fr. Michael Casey will be our new Parochial Vicar at the Cathedral of St. Joseph. His start date is this Monday, March 13th. Fr. Casey is excited to begin his time of ministry at the Cathedral and greatly looks forward to meeting and working with all who worship here. Please take the time to welcome him to our parish family!
Fr. Casey was born and raised in Waterbury, CT. He studied at St. Charles Seminary in Philadelphia for four years and was then sent to the North American College in Rome, where he completed his priestly formation. Fr. Casey was ordained a priest on May 11, 2013 and the following year remained in Rome to complete a license in moral theology. Since his return home from Rome, he has served at St. James Parish in Manchester and most recently at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in: Next Sunday, March 19th at 3 pm, please join us at the Cathedral of St. Joseph for the 2017 Archdiocesan St. Waterbury. Fr. Casey has also served this past year as chaplain to Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury.



Donations for St. Vincent de Paul Giant Tag Sale

On Saturday, June 10th from 9 am-3 pm, please join us for the St. Vincent de Paul Giant Tag Sale on the Cathedral's west lawn! We are looking for donations of items such as clothing, baby goods, dishes, furniture, small appliances, pots & pans, utensils, glassware, linens, and other household goods. Any donations may be dropped off from 10 am-4 pm on Saturday, June 3rd. Confirmation candidates and members of the Cathedral Youth Choir will assist you at the elevator entrance. Please call the Food Pantry at 860-578-1434 for details or to volunteer.


Memorial Day Mass Schedule

Next Monday, May 29th, we will celebrate Memorial Day. The Cathedral will only have one Mass at 9 am and the Rectory Office will be closed. Let us remember and honor all of the men and women who died while serving in the United States military.


Knights of Columbus Memorial Day Mass

Next Monday, May 29th at 10 am, everyone is invited to the Bishop McMahon Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus' Memorial Day Mass. It will be held at the Mausoleum at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield. Rain or shine. Holy Communion will be distributed.


Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra Gala Concert

On Friday, June 2nd at 7:30 pm, you are invited to the Cathedral for the 20th Anniversary Gala Concert of the CT Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra! Come join in the festivity with Adrian Sylveen, Founder & Artistic Director of the CT Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, and a program that includes Johannes Brahms' Violin Concerto, OP. 77 as well as the world premiere of Shesh by Jonathan Broitman Kane. Don't miss this spectacular event! Since its inception in 1997, the Virtuosi flourishes the community with wonderful concerts, operas, & summer festivals in CT and abroad.


Pentecost in Our Time 9-Day Holy Spirit Novena

On June 4th, we will celebrate one of the great solemnities of the Church year, Pentecost Sunday. In preparation, Archbishop Blair invites us to pray the Holy Spirit Novena from Friday, May 26th-Saturday, June 3rd. It is a powerful and moving novena that is meant to help us open ourselves up to the third person of the Holy Trinity. Together let us implore the gift of the Holy Spirit for our Church, our archdiocese, and ourselves!
The novena may be prayed publicly or privately and can be found in the Cathedral entrances. During this 9-day period, please join our Rosary Prayer Committee to pray the novena. We meet on Wednesdays from 7-7:30 am and Saturdays from 9:30-10:30 am in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. The novena is also available in English & Spanish on the Archdiocese of Hartford website archdioceseofhartford.org and the Catholic Transcript Magazine website catholictranscript.org. In addition, the prayer intentions for each day of the novena are available in Polish.


Parish Lunch

Our annual Parish Lunch will be held on Sunday, June 11th at 12:30 pm at the Archdiocesan Center at St. Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield. Starting on May 20th & 21st, tickets are now on sale every weekend in the elevator entrance! Please remember to fill out the Parish St. Joseph Medal of Appreciation nomination forms in the Narthex by Monday, June 5th. We are also looking for gifts for the raffle. Kindly drop off any donations to the Rectory Office.
