With the 50th Anniversary Mass coming up at St Joseph Cathedral this Sunday at 3:00 PM, it is interesting to note that for those too young to have known the old St Joseph Cathedral, there is a mirror image of it still standing in Providence, RI. Well, not quite exactly the same, but pretty darn close.
Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral in Providence was constructed in 1878 by the same architect who built St Joseph Cathedral in Hartford in 1889 – Patrick Charles Keely. So if you want a glance into our past, you can get there in about an hour and a half! And while we celebrate a new day for the Cathedral, we remember with thanks the wonderful spiritual contribution Patrick Keely made by dotting our landscape with so many beautiful churches. You can read more about him here - http://www.keelysociety.com/patrick.htm.
Come join us for the celebration on Sunday!
